The two first met in 2012 on the set of the Villagers music video Nothing Arrived. As it turned out, quite a lot did: a lasting friendship and a creative partnership that has continued to grow ever since.
Based in London, Screen Lounge began as a space for actors to explore screen performance in a collaborative and supportive environment. Today it hosts screen acting workshops, develops film projects and is expanding into writing workshops focused on character and screen storytelling.

In the aftermath of a suicide, three people lay competing claims to grief: a brother searching for answers, a partner determined to keep going, and the woman who found the body.
In the days following Ben’s suicide, his younger brother Adam returns to the art studio where Ben spent his final hours. The space still feels inhabited: unfinished canvases, unopened biscuits, a half-empty bottle of Ouzo. As Adam tries to make sense of what happened, he meets Paula, the studio cleaner who found Ben’s body.
At the same time, Ben’s partner Charlotte is repainting the kitchen and cancelling the studio lease, determined to keep life moving forward for herself and their toddler. To Adam, it feels like she is shutting grief down too quickly. To Charlotte, Adam’s mourning appears performative and self-indulgent. For Paula, being allowed even the smallest share of grief becomes something she clings to.
OFF explores the messiness of mourning, the things left unsaid, the strange intimacies that can form in the wake of loss, and the longing for answers that often follows suicide. Told through st-illness and restrained dialogue, the film observes how grief settles into spaces, objects and people - and what happens when it can no longer stay contained.
OFF was shot in East London and produced under the Screen Lounge banner in association with Resonance Productions. The project was made possible through a crowdfunding campaign supported by nearly 100 individual backers, raising a production budget of approximately £10,000.

"This workshop is perfect for actors who are new to performing for a camera.
Perhaps you have done some (or lots of) theatre work and are looking to make the jump from stage to screen. Or maybe you've recently graduated from drama school and have just started auditioning. Or perhaps you haven't trained but you've done a few short films and you'd like to gain more knowledge.
If any of the above sounds familiar, then this is the workshop for you!"

This workshop is split into two halves.
We know how overwhelming it can be when you have just started auditioning for the screen and you’re suddenly thrown into the world of SELF-TAPES!
And what about your social media profile? Many Casting Directors and industry professionals do look at your “online stats” and presence. It's becoming more and more important to embrace that and make it work in your favour.
In this dual-focus workshop, we will help you to feel more confident with both self-tapes and social media.
Gimme the Low Down!
Our Intro to Screen Acting workshop focuses on fun and practical exercises that will help get you feeling comfortable in front of the camera. Expect ice breakers, solo work and some in depth scene work in pairs, ending with a "Baptism of Fire" exercise (don't worry, it's not as scary as it sounds!).
What do I need to bring?
Nothing but a bit of lunch and your wonderful selves! (Though do bare in mind you will be on camera a lot, so make sure you feel ready for that!)
What are some of the acting tools I can expect to acquire/work on?
- how to access emotions quickly
- acting "short cuts" for auditions
- breaking down a scene and looking at the character’s intentions, goals and motivations
- distinguishing between directions that are playable, and what to do if you’re given bad directions (yep, this happens sometimes!)
- do’s and don’ts as an actor on set
- introduction to the process on set / what to expect during a casting
- Networking opportunity after the workshop in a nearby pub
What don't we offer?
- Acting theory (of course, we do borrow from the acting greats and are very familiar with different methods, but we stay clear of lengthy lectures or showing off our theoretical knowledge)
- a classic cold studio setting
- an impersonal approach in a large group setting
- showreel material
Break it down for me!
The morning will focus on self-tapes. We will go through set up - including lighting and location, filming and performance and finally how to choose the best takes, along with some simple editing tips. If you have a self-tape you would like to work on, please feel free to bring it. If not, we will provide some material. Expect fun, practical exercises and working in pairs.
The afternoon is all about social media and self-marketing! We will take you through tried and tested methods of gaining the right exposure, how to use social media to your best advantage and how to leverage these powerful platforms to help further your career. We place great importance on remaining authentic on social media and finding a sustainable way of maintaining your “shop window” on socials that works for you.
What do I need to bring?
We will have plenty of Q&A time so you may want to bring a notepad and pen.Other than that, all you need is a bit of lunch and your wonderful selves! (Though do bare in mind you will be on camera, so make sure you feel ready for that!)
What are some of the tools I can expect to acquire/work on?
- how to set up your self-tape space to your best advantage, including lighting, background, clothing, eye line and readers
- ways to shoot a tape if you do NOT have a reader (this is a very common problem)
- acting "short cuts" you can use when having to film in a short space of time
- breaking down audition sides and looking at what you can “get” when you’re not given much!
- how to use social media as a tool for telling your story and showing your skills
- how to increase followers, create engaging content and how to use social media in an influential way, whilst staying authentic.
- how to measure the impact of all those likes, comments, shares and retweets.
- Networking opportunity after the workshop in a nearby pub
What don't we offer?
- Edited self-tape material
- a classic cold studio setting
- an un personal approach in a large group setting
- showreel material
